It is quite different to what I am known for in noise-rock duo Hysterical Injury, but if you could hear the song-y-ness in HI, then this will make perfect sense. ‘Along the Forest Bed’ was the first song I wrote for the collection chosen for the album, and while usually that wouldn’t necessarily mean it should go first, the contrast and softness of this song is a good lead in well to what is to come. We chatted about everything from Mazzy Star to The Skeleton Woman to varying and wayward creative processes and I played two versions of songs ‘Devil Deep’ and ‘Day After Day’ from my new album ‘Bloodletting’. These are versions as I wrote the songs, on my 3/4 sized nylon acoustic guitar, voice and reverb and the second time I’ve ever played any of this material live! Speaking of live, I am excited to say that I will be joining the phenomenal Billynomates on her current UK tour for two dates; O2 Institute Birmingham on the 22nd of October and Clwb Ifor Back Cardiff on the 27th. These shows have already sold out so I apologise if you would have liked to have come along. I have plans in my mind for a launch date of the new album so there will be an opportunity!
